Clawfoot Bench
This antique walnut bench has legs which terminate in a carved eagle claw grasping a sphere. The ball and claw design in furniture, originated in 17th century Holland, drawn from the Chinese dragon and pearl motif. It became a style that spread throughout Europe and then to America, where the eagle claw was used. This bench is sturdy and newly upholstered in brown velvet with a brown silk piping.
